There’s an app called Acorns that is one of the most useful tools on your phone. The app automatically links to your credit cards, and automatically invests small amounts of money for you each month–any time you make a purchase, Acorns rounds it off to the nearest dollar and invests the spare change for you. Now, Acorns has a new feature called Found Money which gives you extra money to invest every time you make a purchase from companies like Airbnb and Hulu.
Acorns, which we’ve mentioned before, creates partnerships with these companies where money is deposited into your investing account after you make purchases with them. All you have to do is link your credit cards to Acorns, make purchases through companies participating in Found Money, and Acorns does the rest.
The app itself works in a similar manner: In exchange for a $1/month membership fee, it offers automated investing into smart portfolios–you don’t have to do a thing, and it’s one of the easiest ways around to start investing.
Here’s a quick guide to the companies currently participating in Found Money, and the conditions offered. These descriptions are current as of press time and aren’t authoritative; for a full list of participating companies and terms of service, please use Acorns’ mobile apps. And remember–you have to use a credit card that’s already linked to Acorns to receive the money.
